The Hunt Is On For Singapore’s Best Photographer

The 2016 Sony World Photography Awards (SWPA), the world’s largest and one of the most respected photography competitions, is looking for Singapore’s best photographer in the local category – Singapore National Award.

Organised by the World Photography Organisation, SWPA attracts both emerging talent and established artists from around the world every year.

To be eligible for Singapore National Award, interested photographers of all abilities in Singapore can submit their entry to any of the ten categories available, including Architecture, Low-light, Nature & wildlife, People, Travel, and more.

From across these categories, the judges will uncover and honour the best single image by a Singaporean photographer plus two runners-up. The winner will receive prizes such as the latest photographic equipment from Sony, as well as a trip to attend the Sony World Photography Awards gala ceremony in London next year.

Separately, the judges of 2016 SWPA were also recently announced, and include respectable figures from across the industry, such as acclaimed writer and curator (UK), David Campany, who will be chairing the Professional Competition, Art categories along with Karen Knorr, Photographer and Professor, University for the Creative Arts (US/UK); Jean-Jacques Naudet, Editorial Director, L’Oeil de la Photographie (France); and Mariko Takeuchi, Photography Critic, Curator and Associate Professor of Kyoto University of Art and Design (Japan).
