In the original Blade Runner, set in 2019, ex-detective Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) is called to track down and take out a team of humanoid androids that have escaped from an outer space mining colony and have taken refuge on Earth. However, his search reveals that the the Tyrell Corporation, the android’s manufacturer, has plenty of exoskeletons in their closet. Blade Runner 2049, set thirty years after the events of the first film, brings a new blade runner into frame – LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), who unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard, who has been missing for 30 years.
