Ubisoft has officially announced the release date for the highly anticipated next installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
The game will be available worldwide on November 15, 2024, and players can look forward to experiencing it on various platforms including Ubisoft+, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna, Macs with Apple silicon via the Mac App Store, and Windows PC through the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store. Subscribers to Ubisoft+ or purchasers of the Ultimate Edition will enjoy early access, starting on November 12th.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set in 16th century Japan, a period marked by turmoil and the path towards unification. The game will allow players to dive into the intertwined narratives of two protagonists: Naoe, an adept shinobi Assassin from the Iga Province, and Yasuke, the renowned samurai of historical legend.
Through these characters, players will navigate a country rife with unrest and foreign influences, meeting key historical figures and shaping the duo’s destiny.
Players can adopt distinct playstyles for each character, with Naoe excelling in stealth and Yasuke in combat. Naoe’s gameplay will focus on advanced infiltration techniques utilizing light, noise, shadows, and environmental changes to avoid detection.
Conversely, Yasuke’s approach involves direct combat, dealing with enemies in groups using his formidable skills. Both characters will have unique progression paths, skills, weapon options, and stats, offering diverse gameplay experiences.
The game boasts a vast open world that evolves through different weather conditions and seasons. From bustling ports and majestic castle towns to serene shrines and pastoral landscapes, feudal Japan is brought to life with the latest Anvil engine and the power of next-gen consoles.
A renewed emphasis on exploration will have players building their own spy networks to uncover new areas and track targets. They can also recruit allies with specialized skills to assist in missions.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows allows players to create and customize their own hideout, enhancing their network and training their crew. The game’s standard edition will be available on all new-gen platforms, PCs, and Macs. Pre-orders will receive an additional quest. The special editions include:
- Gold Edition:** Base game, Season Pass, and early access.
- Ultimate Edition:** Base game, Season Pass, Ultimate Pack, and early access. The Ultimate Pack includes exclusive outfits, weapons, and other bonuses.
- Collector’s Edition:** All contents of the Ultimate Edition plus physical collectibles like a Steelbook, world map, figurine, and more.
The first gameplay trailer is set to be revealed in June, promising a closer look at the exciting features and mechanics of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
