Because an alternate reality where she became the Spider-Woman wasn’t enough, Marvel has now announced a Gwen Stacy series of variant covers this June featuring alternate possibilities that no one’s asked for.
After all, should Gwen Stacy really be able to lift Mjolnir and become Thor: Gwen of Thunder? Or what about being awarded the Eye of Agamotto and becoming (ugh) Dr Gwenge.
In what seems to be an exercise of forcing the name “Gwen” into just about every hero’s name to see what could possibly sound dumber than Spider-Gwen, Marvel has announced the 20 titles that will, undoubtedly, become highly demanded.
“Gwenom? The InGwenible Hulk? The Mighty AGwengers? What about G.W.E.N.D.O.K.? The possibilities are endless. As soon as the idea came together to portray Gwen as a variety of Marvel heroes, our artists couldn’t sign up fast enough. They’re having a ton of fun putting these together and it shows.
“Just wait till you see Chip Zdarsky’s ‘Brian Michael Gwendis’ cover,” said David Gabriel, Marvel’s Senior Vice-President of Sales and Marketing.
