Visual artist Sam Lo – also commonly known as the Sticker Lady – is pushing boundaries once again with her latest street art creation, Happy Daze, in collaboration with 3M for the Singapore launch of their Post-it Extreme Notes.
Using more than 21,000 pieces of the Extreme Notes, which can withstand harsh outdoor conditions, Lo has teamed up with fellow artists Laurie Maravilla and Soph Ong to debut Singapore’s first-ever, outdoor post-it mural at this year’s Aliwal Urban Arts Festival.
Lo’s characteristically bold execution of her work and Ong’s exploration of the world through finely detailed, richly symbolic imagery comes together seamlessly with the Rebel Daughters movement founded by Maravilla which aims to empower women in the traditionally male-dominated arena of street art.
In their ongoing work to claim a space in this sphere, the Post-it Extreme Notes provide an apt medium for this collaboration, as the trio has designed a piece that packs as much grit and tenacity as its creators.
It has been a unique experience working with 3M’s Extreme Notes. It is the first time all three of us are venturing beyond materials that we are familiar with. The durability of the post-its has allowed us to create an artwork that is unique yet relatable since it’s made using something that everyone can easily have access to in their daily lives.
This collaboration ties together these independent creatives’ artistic vision with 3M’s commitment towards elevating everyday experiences with cutting-edge science.
We have just brought Post-it Notes to a whole new level. Post-it Extreme Notes is made of Dura-Hold paper and sticks through tough conditions including hot, cold and wet. What this means to consumers is that they will never lose a note again.
The versatility and durability of Post-it Extreme Notes is a result of constant innovation, which we harness for applications that pushes boundaries in all aspects of life. It is an ongoing journey of discovery to see how our research and innovation can be applied in the most unexpected and impactful ways.
From tomorrow until 29 February, members of the public are invited to visit the mural at the Aliwal Arts Centre where they stand a chance to be one of 20 winners to win $50 worth of Post-it products when they share a photo of the artwork on Instagram with the official hashtags: #postitEXTREME #postitsg.
Public can also purchase the Post-it Extreme Notes in all Popular bookstores, Selffix DIY, 3M e-official store, and relevant office suppliers starting from 1 February 2020.
