With much more awareness about the pollutants in the air around us, we take a look at the next must-have gadget for your home – the air purifier.
Viruses, tobacco smoke, allergens, and many more unseen airborne particles can threaten your family’s health. Especially if you have young children, or a home with pets.
We take a look at the Sterra Breeze Air Purifier, recently launched in Malaysia, which features a powerful, medical-grade True HEPA-13 Filter.
Right out of the box, the Sterra Breeze Air Purifier is almost plug-and-play. All you have to do other than plug in the unit is to remove the plastic covering the filter, which is very easily accessible from the back before you turn it on. Once that’s done, just plug it in and turn it on.
The Sterra Breeze has an extremely modern design and its clean white look with black accents will fit in with any home’s aesthetics.
What did take me by surprise was, even though the unit wasn’t flimsy, how light the unit was. Standing at almost 50cm high, and with a width and length of 27cm and 30.3cm respectively, the Sterra Breeze was extremely light at only 4.6kg. Its built-in foldaway handle blends into the top of the unit and makes it extremely easy to transport from room to room.
Once you have it turned on, its LED display should be in blue, unless the air quality is extremely bad.
The Sterra Breeze is advertised to have a very powerful motor that can cover up to a 3-4 room flat – up to an area of 80m². Its filter traps 99.95% of all particles including viruses and bacteria that are 0.1 μm in diameter. And it’s nearly 100% efficient for those with a diameter larger than 2.5 μm.
The Sterra Breeze uses a revolutionary, medical-grade True H13 HEPA Filter to fully clean your air at home. With a patented Pre-filter fabric that filters out hair, dust, lint, and animal fur.
It is also engineered with an activated carbon layer to get rid of the smell and odour you don’t want in your home.

As we had recently renovated our home, while bacteria and viruses were a concern, odours from our new open kitchen became a newfound worry.
However, the Sterra Breeze was definitely up to the task.
Sitting quietly in the living room, the Sterra Breeze quickly kicked into action the moment the smoke from the kitchen started to accumulate. The LED light turned from Blue to Orange, and then Red. While the motor was noticeably louder as well, it was definitely not as loud as the kitchen hood, and quite evidently much more effective.
Just as we started to smell the smoke, it was gone within minutes, and the Sterra Breeze started to wind down to its more passive state.
I was really impressed with the sensitivity of the sensor and the effectiveness of the motor and filtration system.
Since we’ve had the Sterra Breeze in the living room, while there is no discernible change to the smell of the room (which I think is a good thing), we have much fewer issues with sinus and airborne allergies. I’m pretty sure that’s down to the Sterra Breeze.
For those that like to add every device to your smart home, the Sterra Breeze, unfortunately, doesn’t have its own native app or synch up easily with google home or home kit. Instead, it uses the “Smart Life” app – one that I find too clunky and messy.
As such, I haven’t integrated the Sterra Breeze into my smart home system, but truly, it is smart enough on its own. Just leave it on auto and let it do its thing.
In addition to undoubted performance, the Sterra Breeze is very reasonable priced at RM1,099 and comes with 100% Free Delivery – no minimum spend, so you can get it shipped to your door even if you purchase just one.
Additional 1-year filters come at RM199 at their highest price point and get cheaper as you buy more.
Air purifiers are becoming must-have gadgets for almost any home, and the Sterra Breeze Air Purifier is a highly intuitive and powerful air purifier that truly works.
